2017 Zinfandel
Vineyard and Winemaking
Our 2017 Zinfandel is a combination of Zinfandel from Sonoma Valley and Russian River Valley. We hand harvested on September 19th and 30th and gently destemmed the grapes to open top bins where the fermentation ensued. After a long fermentation the grapes were pressed directly to barrels, 20% new American Oak. After 2 years in barrel the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Bottled 125 cases.
Tasting Notes
Opens with big notes of dried boysenberry, cranberry, and pumpkin spiced cake, with hints of vanilla, sweet tobacco, and black licorice. Fruit forward blackberry, boysenberry, and strawberry jam open the palate, followed by pie spices, cedar, toasted oak, and just a touch of vanilla. Very approachable now, our 2017 Zinfandel will age nicely over the next 5 to 8 years.
