2017 Chardonnay
Vineyard and Winemaking
From an amazing growing year marked by little rain, we were happy to harvest our 2017 Chardonnay on August 27, 2017. After hand harvesting, we brought the grapes to the winery and pressed them whole cluster without destemming. A cool temperature fermentation ensued and then we moved the wine to barrels. We stirred the lees fortnightly for two months then allowed the wine to age in barrel before bottling almost one year later. Bottled 230 cases.
Tasting Notes
Unfolds with soft nectarine, buttered brioche, fresh apple, quince, and hints of butterscotch, apple pie spice, and pineapple. The palate follows the aromas adding more apple notes, buttered toast, juicy pineapple, with a touch of peach and spiced apple. Tasting beautiful now with great balance and acidity, our 2017 Chardonnay will age nicely over the coming 3-5 years.
